Director of rugby Les Ashe has warned Workington Town can still influence the League 1 play-offs this season.

Despite the chances of Town making the play-offs being very slim, Ashe said they can still make their mark in their final two games.

Town first travel to Keighley on Sunday and then entertain neighbours and rivals Whitehaven the following week, both sides still in the mix.

And Ashe says the Workington players will be out to finish on a high in both games.

"It is not mathematically impossible for us to make the play-offs but it is highly unlikely," admitted Ashe.

"But that doesn't change the fact that we are professionals and we will be still be looking to put on a performance.

"We are still looking to improve every week and we still want the results and hopefully we can finish this season on a high.

"We can still have a say in the play-offs as we face both Keighley and Whitehaven over the next two weeks.

"Both games will be tough but we want to get a win and especially for the derby game, there should be no need to give them any added incentive."

Prop Tom Curwen could be a doubt for Sunday's trip to Keighley after he took a knock at Barrow.

Ashe said that the talented former Seaton amateur would be given a late fitness test ahead of the game.

"At the moment he is in the hands of the club physio and he will be monitored closely," added Ashe.

"Obviously we want to give him as long as possible before we make a decision on whether he will play.

"He is a doubt for the game but we are hopeful that he might make it back in time."

In better news for the club, in-form forward Stevie Scholey is in line to return after missing last week and Alex Szostak should also be available.
