Workington Town winger Elliott Miller says he and his team-mates are ready for payback this weekend as they prepare to welcome Featherstone Rovers to Zebra Claims Stadium

Rovers ran out as easy 52-0 winners in the fixture at Town’s home ground earlier in the year and also won 72-0 on their own turf before that.

Miller has been a crucial part of the Town side which has won their last five games and the flier is hoping to make it six in a row on Sunday.

“We certainly owe them payback for the two games against them earlier in the year and we’re all ready for it,” Miller said. “This is probably the best time for us to be playing them because they are struggling at the moment.

“Whitehaven have put in some good performances against them recently and they struggled against Doncaster too. We know we can get a result against them.

“I don’t think there’s any reason why we can’t go on and win the rest of our games this year.”

Miller was part of the Town side which managed to hang on against Hunslet Hawks as Workington emerged as 22-18 winners.

“That second half was a bit of a reality check for us really,” he continued.

“It showed that we can’t afford to take any result for granted, no matter how well we played in the first.

“We got that far ahead and we might have thought that we had it in the bag.

“We definitely shouldn’t have eased off but it didn’t feel as though we were going to be beaten even when they did come back.

“Our goal-line defence was fantastic and all the lads dug deep and put in the effort for each other.”

Town are running their ‘Kid for a Quid’ offer again this weekend and Miller is looking forward to the prospect of playing in front of a bumper crowd on Sunday.

“Our fans have been fantastic all year and they are always really loud either at home or away,” he added.

“It always helps when you can hear them shouting you on and hopefully there’ll be a big crowd on Sunday to do that for us.”
