Workington Town hooker Callum Phillips will miss Sunday's visit of Toronto Wolfpack after being handed a two-match ban from the RFL disciplinary committee.

Phillips was charged with a grade C offence of dangerous contact in the 78th minute of the home clash with Doncaster recently.

The submitted an early guilty plea to the charge and an independent panel on Tuesday night handed out the two match suspension.

Phillips will miss Sunday's visit of League 1 leaders Toronto to Derwent Park, ko 3pm, and also the trip to Coventry Bears the following week.

"Callum being out is going to be a huge blow to us as whatever position he plays in, he tends to bring a spark," said Town director of rugby Les Ashe.

"He can change a game and his defence is very competent in the middle so there will be a fair bit of tackling to be done without him there on Sunday."

Phillips' absence will leave Town down to three pivots with Carl Forber, Jamie Doran and Stuart Howarth taking the lead at half-back and hooker.

"The pivots will pick themselves for this match," added Ashe. "Carl and Jamie have been playing really well together, especially in the past few weeks.

"Jamie was the best player on the field against Doncaster and then, despite his sin binning at the weekend, Carl came back and put on a clinical show.

"The contribution from both players recently has been immense and we need them to do it again against Toronto."

The Wolfpack, who boast a host of former Super League names among their ranks, are currently unbeaten this season in the league.

And Ashe says his side is well aware of the risk they pose.

He added: "We are looking forward to hosting the Wolfpack but we are not naive and we know this is going to be tough.

"They have not gone unbeaten for no reason but our lads will go out there and dig in and see what we can do."
