Workington Reds confident Eastwood match will go ahead

Workington Reds chairman Humphrey Dobie is confident tomorrow's match with bottom club Eastwood will go ahead.

Freezing temperatures earlier in the week threatened to cast doubt over the state of the Borough Park pitch, but groundsman Jeff Curwen has worked hard to ensure the surface is playable.

Temperatures are expected to reach five Celsius by the time kick off (3pm) arrives and there are no pitch inspections planned.

Dobie said: “We were worried on Thursday because of the freezing temperatures, but it’s thawed out now and we’re expecting the match to go ahead without any hiccups."
