Workington Reds run riot in opening-day rout

Workington Reds got their season off to a flier with a stunning 4-1 win over Stalybridge Celtic.
Gareth Arnison scored either side of the break, and missed a penalty, during the rout.
His strike partner Jonny Wright was Workington’s star man, scoring once, and creating another during a virtuoso 78-minute performance.
Stefan Scott made sure of the win late on as Workington went joint top of the league.
Goalkeeper Aaran Taylor made two incredible saves to ensure Reds ran out winners.
Boss Darren Edmondson was delighted with his team, who are third after the opening fixture.
Brackley Town and Guiseley are ahead of Workington after they both won 4-1.
Reds travel to Chester, who won 1-0 at Oxford City, on Wednesday.
