Eddie Stobart’s Christmas crooners are chart-toppers just hours after launching their bid to land the festive number one.
Truckers from the iconic Carlisle-based haulage company are mounting a challenge to be top of the singles chart on December 25.
And their version of The 12 Days of Christmas has got off to a flying start – topping the iTunes music video download poll within hours of its release yesterday.
Cumbria’s kings of the road have swapped their steering wheels for microphones to record a seasonal single to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes, which supports ex-servicemen and women.
Their cult following of Stobart spotters have not let them down with early sales – with a number of celebrities also lending their support.
Andrew Tinkler, the Cumbrian entrepreneur who heads the Stobart Group, said: “We are all really surprised by how well our 12 Days Of Christmas charity song has sold on only its first day.
“The Christmas charts are the most competitive of the year and we really appreciate all the public support for our singing truck drivers. We are doing this to raise much needed funds for Help for Heroes so it’s important we get people downloading the song.”

Video downloads from iTunes and other sales websites contribute to the official chart sales, which are compiled from various sources and released this Sunday.
It had been sitting at number two in the poll for much of the day after the release of the single and video yesterday – overtaking dance craze release Gangnam Style to steal the top spot. In the iTunes music download chart, Stobart’s 12 Days of Christmas charted at number 27 by the end of its first day of release, having started out at 200.
The parody single – featuring reworked trucking-inspired lyrics of the Yuletide classic – stars drivers of the cult Channel 5 documentary Eddie Stobart: Trucks & Trailers, which attracts millions of viewers.
