Three hundred take part in Carlisle junior school cross-country races

The weather stayed dry and the sun came out for the annual Carlisle Junior School cross-country event at The Sheepmount.
Three hundred youngsters took part in four races.
The schools involved were Cummersdale, St Bedes, Thursby, Rosley, High Hesket, Kingmoor juniors, Thomlinson juniors, Lime House, Stanwix, Robert Ferguson, St Monicas, Inglewood juniors, Yewdale, Upperby and Ivegill.
The year three and four events were very close finishes, with Stanwix school triumphing in both team events and winning the individual races through Louise Oliver and Paul Harrison.
The year five and six individual events were won by Camilla McKneispy, from St Monicas and Ross Groves, from Rosley.
The girls’ team event went to Kingmoor juniors and the boys to Stanwix.
The event was part of the Carlisle and North Cumbria School Sport Partnership annual calendar of competitive opportunities on offer to pupils within the district.
