We must grind out results to avoid relegation fight, says Workington Reds ace

David Hewson insists Workington Reds must grind out results during the congested festive period to avoid a repeat of last season’s relegation battle.
The midfielder has put the 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Bradford Park Avenue behind him, and is focused on rekindling the fine form that saw Reds go five games unbeaten.
Workington will spend most of December on the road with games at Gloucester, Stalybridge, Harrogate and Vauxhall.
They host Chester City on December 22 – their final home game of 2012.
Reds already have 21 points, nine more than Droylsden in the final relegation place.
Darren Edmondson’s side are within six points of the play-offs, but Hewson is not getting carried away.
Relegation-threatened Gloucester City host Workington on Saturday, and Hewson said: “Nobody wants a repeat of last year.
“If we are to avoid that, we must pick up as many points as possible in the next batch of games.
“It’s not going to be easy to beat Gloucester, even if they are struggling, but we have a job to do.
“It wouldn’t be a disappointment to draw, but we have to at least come back with a point.
“The lads are raring to go, because we have a record to set straight. The Bradford defeat was terrible, but we’ve moved on.”
Gloucester have lost four of their last six games, while Reds have only one defeat in six league matches.
Boss Darren Edmondson added: “Before the Bradford match, we were on a roll.
“We must refocus and ensure we start again.”
