HEAVY blues rock outfit Voodoo Blood will be heading to Cumbria for a mini-tour next week.

The Manchester-based four-piece have shows lined up in Workington on Friday September 29, Cockermouth on Saturday 30 and Carlisle on Sunday October 1.

Formed from mutual love of fuzz riffs and grooves, Voodoo Blood re-imagine blues with a heavy twist.

Drawing comparisons to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Rival Sons, and Blues Pills the band have played at some of the North West's biggest events, as well as high-profile live shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Festwich, Bloodstock Open Air, and headlining a stage at the Cambridge Rock Festival.

With their pounding tones and a hurricane of enchanting and powerful vocals they have picked up a reputation for putting on a mesmerising live show.

The band are fronted by vocalist and guitarist Kim Jennett, who has been compared to the likes of Lzzy Hale, Robert Plant and Janis Joplin, who takes on the role of 'the Voodoo Woman' - said to be the soul of a black magic mystic.

Last year they released their debut EP, Anabolic Blues, which has been described as fuzzy 60s blues at its finest. This tour comes in support of a new single, Groove Medicine, and hints at a full album release in the coming months.

Voodoo Blood's Cumbrian tour takes in Lounge 41, in Workington, on Friday 29, the Fletcher Christian, in Cockermouth, on Saturday 30, and an afternoon appearance at Embers, in Carlisle on Sunday October 1. Each show offers free entry.
