AN award-winning comedy show is coming to Cockermouth later this month.

Leading producers of new theatre, Paines Plough, present Growth at The Kirkgate on Friday September 29.

Winner of a prestigious Fringe First Award at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Luke Norris' play is now embarking on its second tour of the UK.

Tobes has successfully ignored his lump for two years but it’s starting to get in the way - cramping his style and, worse, affecting his sex life.

He's also been ignoring everything else that is wrong in his life, including the fact that he doesn’t like his job.

Growth is a comedy about growing up and "manning up", created by award-winning writer and actor Norris, who has written for the Royal Exchange and the Royal Court. In addition to writing, Luke has appeared on screen as an actor in Poldark, FirstBorn, Skins and The Inbetweeners.

Growth is co-produced by Paines Plough, the UK’s leading new writing touring company, at the forefront of finding bold new writing, directing and acting talent.

The production originally debuted at Paines Plough's Roundabout Theatre at Edinburgh Festival Fringe last August and won a prestigious Fringe First award before touring the UK.

The show comes to The Kirkgate on Friday 29, at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
