CUMBRIAN Gothic horror band Strange Nocturnal will headline at a Halloween fundraiser next month.

The west coast five-piece will be appearing at Gothmania, which takes place at Maryport Rugby League Club, in Mealpot Road, on Friday October 20.

The line-up for the night, which will raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria and North Lakes Food Bank, and is set to feature support acts and a DJ.

Strange Nocturnal was a solo act for the first five years of its existence, before the full band was formed in 2011. Since then, they have played shows across Cumbria, including the CockRock Festival, as well as appearances as far afield as Manchester, Grimsby and Wakefield.

Many of their own recordings feature lyrics about horror, witches, zombies, vampires and werewolves - making them the perfect fit for this Halloween gig.

Among their long list of singles, EPs, remixes and covers available for free download, is a seven-track release entitled Haunted Covers, featuring the band's biggest influences, such as Rob Zombie, Powerman 5000 and Eiffel 65.

The event on Friday October 20 will get under way at 7.30pm, and will also feature a buffet, Halloween party games, and fancy dress prizes. Entrance is £3, with all proceeds being donated to charity.
