Workington Comets aiming to stay top of speedway table

Workington Comets will look to cement their place at the top of the Premier League with two matches in two days this weekend.

Comets will travel to Edinburgh tonight, a track they have notoriously struggled on in the past, before they face fellow title challengers Somerset at Derwent Park (7pm).

The Comets moved top of the Premier League last weekend and are currently equal on points with Somerset and Ipswich but are top courtesy of a bigger points difference with matches in hand over their rivals.

Workington will be missing Peter Kildemand for the Edinburgh match as he is riding in the Danish Final but captain Tomas Topinka has recovered from concussion which he sustained during a heavy fall against Rye House on bank holiday Monday.

It means the Comets will reshuffle their riding order for the match at Armadale with rider replacement operating at number two with Richard Lawson at number three and Topinka at five.

Rusty Harrison, Charles Wright, Kenny Ingalls and Lawson will be eligible to take the replacement rides.
