Workington Comets star Adam Roynon was badly injured again last night in a track crash at Kingβs Lynn.
Roynon was riding for Dudley Heathens in a showdown for the National League title against Mildenhall when he was involved in a last heat pile-up. Early in the morning, from hospital, Roynon sent a text to Comets team manager Tony Jackson that he had broken a leg and a shoulder blade.
Jackson said: “He tangled with a Mildenhall rider in the last heat decider and suffered another nasty injury.
“I will have to bring in a guest for him tomorrow night when we finish-off against Berwick Bandits.
“His other injury this season was when he was riding for Coventry so he hasn’t been in Workington colours on both occasions.”
Roynon tweeted this morning: “Broke my leg badly just below the knee and also a small break in the left shoulder blade too. Need surgery today.”

Seriously thinking if I'm meant to be in this sport. I love it so much but being led in a hospital bed in mega pain isn't the way forward.

Steve Whitehead, brother of new owner Laura Morgan said: “Obviously we don’t take over until after the final match of the season but Adam will certainly be one of the riders we look at for next season.
“He’s a racer, popular with the fans and he has had some really bad luck with injuries in his career. I hope he’s soon over this latest one.”
King’s Lynn, where he crashed last night, was also the scene of his first major crash three years ago while he was practicing with an international squad.
In that incident Roynon suffered serious head injuries.
