Workington Reds boss praises striker after another two goals

WORKINGTON Reds boss Darren Edmondson hailed his two-goal striker Gareth Arnison after another fine performance.

The goal ace took his tally to 14 for the season after netting four times in his last two outings - scoring both goals last night to beat Worcester 2-0.

Edmondson said: “Over the last two games Gareth has shown us what he can do. It doesn’t matter if he’s scored three penalties, you have to put them away.

“He’s clinical from the spot. It’s very rare that he misses so when he stood up to take it, I knew he would secure the game for us.

“I think we were very comfortable. Worcester didn’t really look like scoring. They had their fair share of possession but didn’t do a lot with it. We weren’t under much pressure and that is down to the way we approached the game.

“We kept possession of the ball high up the field, which pinned them back. We’ve been working on keeping hold of the ball because it sounds obvious but you can’t concede if you have possession.

“I challenged the side to go unbeaten until the end of the season and now we’ve won the last two games.

“It’s encouraging because this is still a very young side with a lot to learn.”

Keeper Aaran Taylor only had one save to make, which came in the second minute when Tom Thorley stung his palms from inside the box.
