THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE ALLERDALE AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.8) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out highways works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.
Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order. The contractor will ensure that local residents and the general public are
informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

, quoting the references specified in the Schedule. The Order will come into operation on 14 September 2020 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 3 months in total only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE
EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. U2096 Bridekirk- Approx. Duration I week (Ref: Gl I0/20/A364) From its junction with the C2038 to its junction with the A595. Alternative route: Via the A595 and C2038.
2. C2008 Crosscanonby - Approx. Duration 4 week (Ref: G110/20/A365) From its junction with the B5300 extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 200m.
Alternative route: Via the unrestricted section of the C2008, A596 (Maryport) and B5300.
3. U2025 Rumbling Culvert, Abbeytown - Approx. Duration I week (Ref: GII0/20/A366)
From a point approx. 530m south east of its junction with the U2026 extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 150m.
Alternative route: Via the unrestricted sections of the U2025, B5302 (Abbeytown), U2026 (Brownrigg).
4. C2023 Ellenhall Bridge, Gilcrux - Approx. Duration I week (Ref: GII0/20/A367)
For a distance of approx. 50m either side of the centre line of Ellenhall Bridge. Alternative route: Via the unrestricted sections of the C2023 (Gilcrux), C200I, C2003, A596 (Crosby Villa) and C2024.
5. South Street, Challoner Street and Croftside, Cockermouth - Approx. Duration I week (Ref: G110/20/A368)
South Street: From its junction with Station Street extending in an easterly direction for approx. 180m. Challoner Street:-
(i) From its junction with South Street extending in a northerly direction for approx. 30m; and
(ii) From its junction with Main Street extending in a southerly direction for approx.80m.
Croftside: From its junction with Challoner Street extending in an easterly direction for approx. 30m.
Alternative Route: Via Station Road, Gallowbarrow, Sullart Street and Main Street
N.B. To facilitate the alternative route and allow vehicular access/egress to/from properties and businesses within the restricted lengths, the existing one-way traffic restriction on Challoner Street (from its junction with Main Street to its junction with South Street) and South Street (from its junction with Station Street to its junction with Challoner Street) will be temporarily suspended.
6. U2129 Dale Side, Ireby - Approx. Duration I week (Ref: G110/20/A368) From a point approx. 200m north west of its junction with the B5299 extending in a north westerly direction for approx.500m.
Alternative Route: Via the unrestricted sections of the U2I29, C202I (Ireby), C20II (Boltongate) and B5299.
