THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (U5394 BENTS LANE, NEAR BARBON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria County Council to carry out carriageway patching works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the U5394 Bents Lane, Near Barb on, from its junction U539I Banneriggs Brow, extending in an overall southerly direction for a distance of approx. 3km.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the C5048 Flush Brow, A683, C5083, C5082 and the U539I Banneriggs Brow. There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency personnel and emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties, provided it is deemed safe to do so by the contractor on site; and



2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform provided it is deemed safe to do so by the contractor on site; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and



4. Apply to personnel or vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

quoting the reference SL20/323. The Order will come into operation on 12 October 2020 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 8 days and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
