THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (FOOTPATH BETWEEN FITZ ROAD AND WALKER CROFT, COCKERMOUTH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS AND
CYCLISTS) ORDER 2021 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out works for new connections ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians and cyclists from proceeding along that section of Footpath which runs between Fitz Road and Walker Croft (adjacent to Kirklands Residential Home), Cockermouth.
A suitable alternative route for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be available via Fitz Road, Walker Street and Walker Croft.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
2. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads.

The Order will come into operation on 19 April 2021 and may continue in force for a period of up to six months from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed, although ft is anticipated that it will only be required for 5 days.
