Flimby Primary School has joined Dearham and Northside, in the multi academy trust.

Headteacher Jacqui Wilson said this was not an academy in the larger sense of the word but a trust set up to allow schools with the same ethos to work together and share resources and expertise.

“We don't have a business funding us or anything of that nature,” she said.

“Dearham and Northside schools are similar to ours.

By joining the trust we are giving our children the opportunity to work within a larger network. We can share professional experise and, by sharing resources, have the money to spend where it most benefits our children.”

Mrs Wilson will remain head of the Flimby school.

Sam Kidd, who is presently executive head of both Dearham Primary School and Northside Primary School, is CEO of the trust.

She said she is looking forward to working with Flimby.”

“Jacqui and I have worked together in the past. As she said, Flimby's staff and governors share the same ethos as us.”

Parents and children will see little difference in the day to day life of the school.

However, it has already been decided that the three schools sill share a music teacher which mans the children will all be part of a combined choir.

Flimby children will also have the chance to experience the national and international networking which is a strength of Dearham school.

Meanwhile, the county council has taken away the temporary classroom being used by pupils at Flimby school.

The former community education room had been taken back and had been redecorated to use as a classroom.

“We still need more space, a new hall and the room to allow two-year-olds at the school,” Mrs Wilson said.
