The owner of a leading Cumbrian public relations and digital marketing agency has spoken of her big plans for the future as it celebrates its fifth anniversary.

Nici Hewitson launched One Little Bird in Cockermouth in October 2013 as a one-woman operation.

Today it employs seven staff offering digital marketing and website development expertise alongside traditional public relations and marketing.

She said: “I didn’t launch the business with grand plans in mind, I just wanted to make a living and find a good work-life balance as my son was one at the time.

“I’m proud of the way we have grown - it’s always been important to me to work with clients who are brilliant at what they do and I’m very pleased to represent such a range of incredible businesses today.”

One Little Bird represents clients including the Langdale Estate, Brimstone Hotel, Ast Signs, Lowther Castle, Online Systems and Genesis Homes.

The agency moved to a new, larger office in the centre of Cockermouth in September 2017 and was this year shortlisted for the Best SME category of the 2018 in-Cumbria business awards.

Nici Hewitson was also a finalist in the 2018 EVA awards which recognises women in business in northern England.

Nici added: “We’ve grown very naturally, largely through word of mouth and we have a great team in place with expertise in all areas of communications.

"This is a very exciting time for us as we have some big plans for the next 12 months.”
