Events will be held across West Cumbria tomorrow to commemorate Armistice Day.

Commemorations begin in Millom at 8.30am, when a parade will assemble at the Pensioners' Hall on Mainsgate Road.

Kirkland Mission will hold an Act of Remembrance during the 9am service.

The parade will start at 9.30am, and people are invited to join it at any stage, ahead of the service at St George’s Church at 10am.

The parade will then go on to the cenotaph for wreath laying.

After the parade, there will be a pie and peas lunch at Millom Palladium, followed by the singing of wartime songs.

In Irton at 10am, St Paul's Church will host a joint service with the parish churches of Waberthwaite, Muncaster, Eskdale and Drigg. An act of Remembrance will follow at the war memorial.

At St Bees, wreaths will be laid on the war memorial at 10.15am, before a service in St Bees Priory at 10.45am.

From 3pm, there will be a tea party with songs, followed at 6pm by a short service at the bell tower.

At 2.30pm, the marchers will reassemble at the harbour in Haverigg to begin a march along Main Street to St Luke’s Church for a service. The service will be followed by wreath laying at the memorial, then afternoon tea at the Institute.

Harrington's events will see a parade assemble at 9.30am at the Royal British Legion Club in Salterbeck before setting off for St Mary's C of E Church at 9.40am. There will be a service in the church and a ceremony at the cenotaph.

In Broughton, a World War One memorial will be unveiled in the school grounds at 9.30am.

Keswick's service will be at St John's at 9.45am, with wreaths laid at the war memorial at 11am.

In Whitehaven, a parade will assemble outside Copeland council's offices on Catherine Street from 10am.

The parade will head to the cenotaph in Castle Park at 10.40am, and a service and wreath laying will take place at the cenotaph at 10.55am.

The parade will then leave the cenotaph at 11.15am and head along Lowther Street, where a moment will be observed as the parade marches past Private Acton’s memorial plaque at St Nicholas’ Gardens. The parade will then proceed via King Street and Market Place for a Service of Remembrance in the United Reformed Church.

Following the service, a pie and peas lunch will be served at Whitehaven Civic Hall to those who have taken part in the parade.

Church bells will ringing at St James’ and St John’s churches, and an act of Remembrance will take place during the morning service at St James’, which starts at 11am.

Flimby's St Nicholas' Church will host a service at 10am.

In Lamplugh, a service will take place at St Michael’s Church at 10.30am, followed by wreath-laying at the war memorial in the churchyard.

Cockermouth's All Saints' will hold a service at 10.30am, followed by a civic service at Lorton Street Methodist Church at 1pm, a procession to the war memorial from there at 1.45pm, and a service there at 2pm.

Both tomorrow and Sunday, the town's Kirkgate Centre will host an exhibition entitled Cockermouth's War 1914-18, from 10am to 4pm. A 30-minute free film will be screened tomorrow at 11am and 1pm, and on Sunday at noon and 3.30pm.

Egremont's parade will assemble at Ehen Court Road at 10.45am and march to the war memorial for a service at 11am.

A service will then take place at St Michael and St Mary’s Church, followed by entertainment and refreshments at the Egremont Royal British Legion Club.

At Whitbeck, St Mary’s Church will host a service at 10.45am.

In Parton, wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the war memorial in The Square at noon.

In Moor Row, a short wreath-laying service will take place at the war memorial at 1pm.

Frizington Community School on Main Street will host an ecumenical community service at 1.30pm, followed by the laying of wreaths at the war memorial opposite.

Workington's parade on Sunday will assemble on Pow Street at 1.45pm and begin at 2pm ahead of wreath laying at the cenotaph at 2.15pm and a service at St John's at 3pm.

A beacon-lighting ceremony in Vulcan Park will begin at 6.55pm.

In Maryport, a march will begin at Fleming Square at 2.30pm heading to St Mary's for a service, followed by wreath laying in the Memorial Gardens then a march to Maryport Rugby League Club.

Also at 2.30pm, Aspatria's parade will leave Brandraw car park heading for the memorial gates at St Mungo's Park for 2.45pm and on to St Kentigern's Church for 3pm.

At Ennerdale's St Mary's Church, a service will take place at the war memorial in the churchyard at 2.30pm.

In Cleator Moor a service will be held at St John's Church at 2.40pm, followed by wreath laying at the war memorial on The Square, and a brief service at Cleator Moor Methodist Church. Light refreshments will be served in the Methodist church hall, following the service.

At 6.30pm in Dearham, villagers are invited to meet next to Lakeland Livery Yard and Florence House, off Cockermouth Brow, for a ceremony culminating in the lighting of a Beacon of Light at 7pm.
