Eight students are celebrating after achieving their functional English qualifications.

Seven Workington students and a Cleator Moor student were proud to receive their certificates after working hard at WEA Adult Learning Within Reach, based at the People First office in Workington.

Course co-ordinator and teacher, Sheila Turnbull, said: "The students left school without qualifications and have now achieved their entry level exam in English. I am so proud of them and all their hard work."

Whilst studying for their English qualifications, three students gained the confidence to enrol on a career in care and confidence building course to help them to find work.

WEA is the UK's largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in England. The charity provides basic maths, English and IT skills for employment; courses to improve health and wellbeing; creative programmes and community engagement activities.
