Cockermouth Amateur Dramatics Society is performing a double bill of plays written by award-winning playwright Sir David Hare this month.

The two short plays – The Bay at Nice and Wrecked Eggs – were written to be performed together. They will be showing at both the Rosehill Theatre at Moresby and Cockermouth’s Kirkgate Centre.

‘The Bay at Nice’, set in Leningrad in 1956, follows Valentina, a woman with a colourful past in 1920s Paris, in a conflict with her daughter’s wishes.

Gwen Irving, who plays Valentina, said: “She is a fabulously outrageous character to play, but at the same time she and her problems are totally believable.”

Wrecked Eggs is set 30 years later in New York, and follows Robbie and Loelia, a couple who seemingly have everything, but everything is not as it seems.

The two plays are being performed at 7.30pm at the Kirkgate Centre from November 22 to 24 and on November 29 at 7.30pm at Rosehill Theatre.
