A Cockermouth artist is auctioning a painting to raise vital church funds.

Keith McSherry has painted St Mary's Church, Gilcrux, which needs money to pay for essential structural work.

He is selling the framed oil painting by silent auction.

Keith has spent the summer painting from the Blue Willow Studio in Gilcrux, where he is holding an open

studio every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas.

The studio is in an old joiner's workshop behind

the cottage where his friends, Michael Davies and Debbie Taylor, have lived for the past 20

years.

"The old workshop is a fantastic space for visual artists," said Michael. "When we heard Keith was

going to commit to becoming a full time artist we wanted to show our support by offering him the

space as and when he needed it."

The painting, a framed oil on canvas measuring 50 x 50cm, has a reserve price of £200.

The auction will be held until December 31. For more details go to https://keithmcsherry.art.
