Bows Baby Boutique has opened its doors on Wood St. in Maryport and is seeing promising early success.
Maryport's newest baby supplies store has only been open for two weeks and it is "Going really well". Co-owner Sophie Telford, 26 said that the support they have already seen is "surprising".

The early success of the boutique baby clothes shop is due in part to the progressive running of the business. "[Social media] is all we've done to advertise." Sophie has two young girls of her own and noticed a trend in boutique baby clothes, as well as the strong response the products get on social media platforms such as Instagram. "It's doing really well on social media" said Sophie. "It's surprising that one post can reach thousands of people."

Someone in the south of the country recently messaged their page to request an item.
It has also helped their custom to partner up with their friends' businesses.
Bows Baby Boutique are co-operating with Love Photography. "On the open day we gave people the chance to win a £99 voucher for them." Love Photography are a local professional company that offer newborn baby photo shoots. The clothes and items in the photo shoots are supplied by Bows Baby Boutique, giving the Wood St. store some valuable publicity.

Sophie admits the fledgling period has been "trial and error" but there is a gap in the market. "
The business is a family affair, Sophie runs the shop with her mother Judith Bowness. "It's nice, when you're buying online it takes three days to come, it's not what you expected, you can just nip into your own town." Despite being a local business, high-profile brands are available at the store. Sophie said: "We've started stocking Sarah Louise, we're the only one around here stocking that sort of thing."

Although the business does not post around the country yet, that could be the next step after Christmas. In the meantime, catalogues are available "if we haven't got it in stock we can order it."
