Fire crews rushed out to a chimney blaze at a property near Bassenthwaite.
The call-out was received about 12.45pm yesterday, with crews from Workington and Keswick stations attending.
They used one hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera, small tools and 'working at height' equipment to extinguish the fire.
A spokesman for the service said: "Fire service personnel were in attendance for approximately three hours and 45 minutes."
