The Brexit debate appears at last to be moving towards a very simple conclusion.

Theresa May is adamant that her deal is the best we can get for a post-exit relationship.

Most of the other leading politicians (including the key Brexiteers - Boris Johnson, David Davis and Jacob Rees-Mogg) think it is an awful deal, leaving us worse off than where we are now, both economically and in terms of sovereignty and control.

If both sides are right, it would seem to be the height of folly to plough blindly on.

We can't adopt this deal it is really is that bad.

We can't crash out with no deal - the economics are just too bad.

We expressed our concerns in 2016 and we have not explored the options and alternatives.

Surely we should now simply scrap the whole idea, and stay.
