A Cockermouth bistro is continuing its festive tradition of offering free dinners on Christmas Day.

This will be the fourth year that Wild Zucchinis on Station Street will be offering people a three-course meal.

All money donated will go to Cockermouth First Responders.

Owner Manon Plouffe said: "It's a tradition which we want to continue. Customers are aware of it and very supportive.

"I have invited some people to come, there are customers here who we know might be on their own.

"Others are coming for various reasons, there is no set criteria regarding who can come."

More than 15 people have signed up so far, Manon and her team have room for 40 and would like to hear from more people.

There will be a festive team working together. It includes Manon's husband, Andy, and children, Saskia and Nathaniel, volunteers and staff.

"Suppliers have been very supportive and most of the food is given to us for free," said Manon.

"One customer has given us a case of champagne, VeeVa - as ever - will do mince pies, other people like to contribute."

Last year's festive meal raised £1,000 for Team Evie. All proceeds will go to the first responders.

"I chose Cockermouth First Responders this year because I think they need more visibility and are well worth supporting," said Manon.

"They do great work and are often there before ambulances and police."

People should book in advance although no one would be turned away on the day. The bistro can be contacted on 01900 823446.
