A WEST Cumbrian gym is rebranding in an attempt to expand.

Co-owners, Bill Moore and Kate Jarvis are looking to hammer out a reputation for themselves on Cumbria's fitness scene whilst supporting the growth of Crossfit in the area. "There's a new name in fitness in town," said Mr Moore.

The Salterbeck based gym have transitioned their branding from Crossfit: No Ego to Crossfit Stormbreaker. The re-branding comes at a time of change for the gym who are gearing-up for a sporting revolution.

"The new name represents a rebirth for the gym as we look to grow our membership and bring the very best in Crossfit training to the area" said Bill. Kate Jarvis is a co-owner with Bill, involved in the running of the gym and has had a key role in the changes. Kate said: "This next phase in our gym's development is exciting, we think it reflects who we are and what we are about."

It is a busy time for the Stormbreaker team, they recently raised funds for Mind, a mental health charity. Funds were raised by creating a calendar which features members of the gym. The calendar is now available and can be ordered in time for Christmas by contacting Kate or Bill on the Facebook page. Due to the exposure and events surrounding the gym, it has seen an influx of new starters.

On December 2, the team held a two hour intensive beginners course to cope with the influx of new starters. Coaches taught beginners the basic fundamentals of a barbell before teaching the gymnastic side of the sport. Crossfit Stormbreaker will hold a beginners session in response, just in time for the new year's resolutions.

The beginners sessions served as a route to becoming a member of the gym. "It's not a case of turning up with a key fob and do your own thing," said Mr Moore: "We try and look after our members that we've got."
