Beauty students at Lakes College have raised £244 for Cancer Research UK by holding three nights of pampering sessions.

The girls' night fundraiser saw the students provide beauty treatments including manicures, pedicures, eyebrow and lash tinting, and eyebrow shaping.

The theme of the event was look good, feel better and face cancer with confidence, and each client received a pink iced cupcake made by catering students.

Hair and beauty lecturer Lynn Creighton said: "I am delighted with how successful the night was. It was a great opportunity for the students to demonstrate both their employability and salon skills and a fantastic amount was raised for a brilliant charity."

Level two beauty student Lauren Caddy added: "We are all very pleased as the money raised from the nights is going towards a fantastic charity.

"The event ran very smoothly even though some of us were extremely nervous with this being our first opening event. All of our clients expressed how happy they were with the services we provided and some of our friends and family members attended to support us."
