Officers investigating a knifepoint robbery in Carlisle have charged two men.
Police were called at around 5.45am yesterday to a reports of a robbery of a taxi in the Wigton Road area, near to B & M Bargains.
The taxi – a white Skoda Octavia – was then found burnt out and abandoned in the Cummersdale area.
Two men, aged in their 20s were subsequently arrested after being found in the Dalston area.
James Thompson, 23, of Highfield Avenue, Carlisle, has been charged with robbery, arson and possession of a knife.
Lexie Elliott, 22, also of Highfield Avenue, Carlisle, has been charged with robbery and arson.
Both men are due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
