A WORKER at Sellafield was allegedly exposed to plutonium, a court has heard.
Court proceedings continued in the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s (ONR) prosecution of Sellafield Ltd for alleged offences under Section 2 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974).
During a pre-trial review hearing at Carlisle Crown Court, Sellafield Ltd entered no plea to charges relating to an incident in February 2017 which alleged a Sellafield Ltd employee came into contact with the radioactive element.
Following procedural and legal discussions before Judge James Adkins, a trial date remains set for April 1 2019, at Carlisle Crown Court.
The trial is listed to last three weeks. The case has been listed for another hearing on February 22.
The matter remains subject to active court proceedings so the ONR said it could not comment any further at this stage for legal reasons.
