A Boxing Day tradition is set to continue next week with foxhound meets planned in Keswick and Lorton.

Blencathra Foxhounds are due to meet in Keswick Market Square at 10am on Thursday, December 26.

They will gather to allow supporters and the public to meet the hounds.

Their traditional route then takes them on to the town's Mary Hewetson Cottage Hospital, on Crosthwaite Road, for a visit before heading out for a trail on nearby fells to exercise the dogs.

In Lorton, the Melbreak Foxhounds are due to meet at the Wheatsheaf Inn from 9am before setting off for the fells at 10am for a trail.

Paul Glaister, joint master, said: "It's a hunt tradition. It's been done for hundreds of years. It's a social thing more than anything and a chance for people to come and look at the hounds and see what we do."
