The Maxwell family lost Danica on December 22 2010, however, this is the month that they try to keep her memory alive.

"This month kills us" said John Maxwell, her father and Chairman of Danica's Dream Fund. Despite the still raw emotions linked to her memory, John is motivated by the charity work he does in her name: "Me and my son are going to do The Great North Run."

Before she passed away, Danica's wish was to help others that are stricken by cancer. Mr Maxwell has continued to campaign for this cause and since then the charity has raised £202,000. "I'm pushing for the quarter of a million", he said "I won't stop until I do."

Christmas is a busy period for the Maxwell family and the Dream Fund. Orgill Primary School in Egremont have an authentic Christmas tree on their grounds, planted in Danica's memory. Like the charity, the tree has grown exponentially.

On December 22, Danica's "friends are going to light a candle for her" and some shared their memories of her. The Maxwells will reflect over the period. John said, "I still get my wife a present from Danica." However, it is all systems go on the charity work, as well as taking part himself, John has recruited five teammates for The Great North Run.

Gary McKee will help out with their training. McKee is an endurance runner that earned the title "Marathon Man" after completing 100 marathons in 100 days. "We've got a lot of people helping us" John said, "we can't thank them enough."
