A Workington travel agency has been shortlisted as one of the best travel agencies in the country.

Cumbria Travel's Dunmail Park branch has been selected as one of the top five high street agencies in the North West in a list compiled by the Travel Trade Gazette, a newspaper for the travel industry.

More than 500 agencies and branches put themselves forward for consideration for the publication’s Top 50 Travel Agencies 2019 list – in association with Kuoni - from which a shortlist of 100 finalists across 20 categories has been devised.

On April 25, the 50 agencies that have ultimately earned a place in the list will be announced at a glittering ceremony at The Vox Centre in Birmingham.

Leanne Miller and Patricia Rickerby, managing directors of Cumbria Travel, said: “We are very proud of our team at Dunmail Park, they have all worked extremely hard over the past year.

"To make it into the top 50 in this category is such a fantastic achievement after only two years of trading. ”

TTG Media group editor Pippa Jacks added: “Now in its fourth year, our Top 50 Travel Agencies initiative takes us the length and breadth of the country to uncover stories of brilliant agents going the extra mile for their customers, giving great value, and serving their communities.

“With extremely stiff competition once again this year, any high street agency that has made it onto the shortlist should be extremely proud.”

The shortlisting stage was undertaken by a panel of 50 travel suppliers including airlines, tour operators, cruise lines and car hire providers, who rated hopeful agencies according to their business performance, customer service, expertise, and innovation.

A journalist from the Travel Trade Gazette will visit the agency to carry out an assessment as part of the next stage of judging.
