The 74-year-old killed in an accident on the A66 on Saturday has been identified as Richard Fereday, 74, of Maryport.
He was the driver of the Nissan involved in the collision on the A66 at Embleton.
The collision occurred just after 4pm on Saturday when a silver Nissan Note travelling towards Cockermouth was in collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf travelling in the opposite direction.
Four of his relatives were seriously hurt in the crash, but there is no further update available regarding the condition of the people injured in the collision.
After the accident, Rick Petecki, of Embleton Parish Council, said: "We would like to see a major review being carried out. It seems to be developing into a blackspot."
