Handling stolen goods including washing powder and toilet rolls landed a Workington man before magistrates.
Ritchie Neil Edgar, 31, of Iredale Crescent, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court.
The court was told that Edgar dishonestly undertook or assisted in the retention, removal, disposal or realisation of stolen washing powder, lager, toilet rolls and Jack Daniels whiskey in the town on December 21, or arranged to do so.
The goods, worth £257.50, belonged to Morrisons.
Eight days later, he stole a £40 jacket from Halfords.
Edgar pleaded guilty to both offences.
He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.
