PROSPECTIVE candidates at May's local elections are invited to attend meetings next month.

Allerdale council is holding briefings for candidates and their agents to discuss detailed processes and timetable for the elections, as well as talking about the role, duties and responsibilities of councillors and the training and development that will be on offer.

Information packs will be available for all candidates including nomination packs, timetables and Electoral Commission advice and guidance.

Diary appointments can be booked on the night for nomination form checking and submission and officers will be available to answer questions during the briefing and afterwards.

The briefings will take place on Monday February 11 at 6pm at Wigton Market Hall; on Tuesday February 12 at 6pm at Allerdale House, New Bridge Street, Workington; on Wednesday February 13 at 6pm at the Quaker Meeting Rooms, Keswick.

Elections for Allerdale Borough Council's 49 seats, as well as for local town and parish councils, will be held on May 2.

All potential candidates, elections agents, local political parties and parish councils are welcome to attend but are asked to contact the Electoral Services team at Allerdale Borough Council: electoralservices@allerdale.gov.uk 01900 702550 by Friday February 8 to register their interest.

Additional sessions may be arranged if there is sufficient interest.
