OASIS’ fans are in for a treat as one of its sell-out tribute bands is gearing up for a gig in Whitehaven.

West Cumbrians AKA The Music of Noel Gallagher are promising to wow the crowd at the Civic Hall on February 15.

The band, which performs a mixture of Oasis and High Flying Birds songs, has previously sold-out at other Whitehaven venues.

This time they will be joined by other West Cumbrian bands including The Northern Threads, Reptilians and Springfield.

Mark Rothery, lead vocalist and rhythm guitar, said: “We initially formed the band as a one-off for a charity fundraiser at the Rosehill Theatre. Macmillan Cancer Support was the charity that we were raising for, and were fortunate enough to sell out Rosehill and make in excess of £3,000 for the charity, in addition to having a great night. The intent was always for this to be a one-off, but we all enjoyed it that much that we agreed if asked we would consider this again.”

The band has since played a sold-out gig at The Yellow Earl in aid of Mind.

Mark is joined on stage by Steven Tubman on lead guitar and backing vocals, Chris Grears on bass and backing vocals, Nick Smith on keys and Andrew Henshaw on drums.

Mark said: “We have all been massive Oasis fans since the 90s - apart from Nick, who had to download the majority of Noel’s back catalogue to listen to some of the songs for the first time - and have all been in bands that have been heavily influenced by Oasis and other bands of that era.”

Tickets for the show cost £15 and are available from www.thesolwayhall.com or 01946 690970. Doors open at 7.30pm.
