A Workington man charged with the murder of his 69-year-old mother has appeared in court.
Lee Sowerby, of Honister Drive, appeared briefly before Carlisle's magistrates' court this morning, charged with the murder of Mary Sowerby, at a property in Dearham, near Maryport, on Tuesday, January 22.
The 45-year-old, who wore a black jacket and spoke quietly in the court, confirmed his name, age and address. He did not enter a plea.
Sowerby was remanded in custody and is to appear before Carlisle Crown Court tomorrow.
