Ice and snow are affecting large parts of Cumbria this morning.
A weather warning remains in force and a number of roads are closed.
Some schools are also closed today as a result of the cold weather.
Sub-zero temperatures have left most parts of the county covered in ice.
Motorists are warned to take extra care on the roads and make sure vehicles are fully defrosted before driving.
Black ice is a particular risk.
Residents in many parts of west Cumbria woke to find a blanket of snow covering their streets.
The Sedbergh area is also badly affected.
Hazardous driving conditions in Shap left a car overturned on the M6 yesterday and some lorries stuck in snow.
Other higher parts of the Lake District were also badly affected, as does the A591.
Police continue to warn motorists to take extra care in these areas.
Several mountain passes in the county remain closed due to snow.
They include Kirkstone Pass, Honister Pass, Hardknott Pass, Newlands Pass, Birker Fell and the Corney Fell and Cold Fell roads.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for ice and snow yesterday.
It remains in force across Cumbria this morning.
Schools closed include Sedbergh Primary School and nearby Settlebeck High School.
