Five people have been arrested after police raided three properties in West Cumbria this morning.
Officers visited addresses in Casson Road and Newlands Gardens in Workington and one in Clifton as part of enquiries concerning a male suspect wanted for GBH and possession of an offensive weapon.
A 38-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH, two counts of possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled drug, while a 27-year-old woman, also from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and failing to appear at court.
Three people – a 38-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, all from Workington – were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Armed officers were deployed as a precaution and cordons were put in place but have now been removed.
A police spokesman said: "There was no perceived threat to the public at any point during this morning's operation.
"Police would like to thank the public for their patience."
