Cartmel’s Rogan & Co owner Simon Rogan will be playing host to lucky foodies, cooking a selection of his favourite dishes from his debut book, Rogan: The Cookbook.

The Michelin-starred restaurant owner and chef is presenting his first Rogan Book Week, taking place from Monday, March 4 to Sunday, March 10, to celebrate the release of his book, published by Harper Collins.

A six-course taster menu, cooked by Simon and Rogan & Co Head Chef, Tom Barnes and his team, will be available for lunch and dinner throughout the week, at £85 per person. Wine and cocktails are also set to be offered to diners, chosen specifically to complement each dish, creating the perfect combination of dining and drinks.

Some of the dishes for food lovers to look forward to include salt baked turnip, marinated turbot and mussels with miso pickles, poached pear with a rosehip and cobnut crumb, and more. All recipes are taken from Simon’s cookbook, so those feeling creative can recreate any (or all!) of the chef’s meals at home.

In addition to the Cartmel-based chef, an extra dash of the Cumbrian village will feature in the food, as all meals will be made with produce grown on Our Farm – Simon’s own farm in the Cartmel Valley.

As well as plenty of delicious recipes, Rogan: The Cookbook outlines the connections between nature and food, and the importance of using locally sourced produce in your meals. Simon included this in the hopes of encouraging readers to consider where their food comes from, urging them to make more beautiful meals by eating seasonally, locally, and using organic produce as often as possible.

A short message of best wishes will also be included, as signed copies of Simon’s debut book will be available throughout the week.

For those wishing the Michelin-starred meal would never end, an overnight package is available on Monday, March 4 and Thursday, March 7, for £330 per person.

This deal includes a choice of lunch or dinner from the Rogan Book Week menu, a glass of sparkling wine and an overnight stay in one of Rogan & Co’s village bedrooms, and breakfast at the restaurant. Guests will also receive a 10% in Cartmel’s Our Shop.
