A WIGTON tradesman has been nominated for an award after he saved the day for a family enjoying their Christmas get-together.
Brian Tack and his family - who had come from Carlisle, Alston, Aylesbury and even Japan - were devastated to find they had five burst pipes under their caravan at Irthing Vale Caravan Park in Brampton.
Ryan Sedgwick, of Ryan Sedgwick Plumbing and Heating, crawled into the snow to repair the damage.
Mr Tack, 76, of Whitley Bay, has nominated the selfless plumber for the MyBuilder Job of the Year Award.
"We were amazed when Ryan showed up post haste. I thought that he would turn us down due to it being a really nasty job," he said.
"He went above and beyond the call of duty by fixing some other stuff and doing a bit of servicing which really we had not asked about.
"This guy completely saved our family gathering which only happens once a year."
