A teenager has appeared in court after damaging a car in Workington.

Liam Simpson, 19, of Northumberland Street in the town, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court.

Magistrates were told that, on November 12 last year, Simpson damaged a red Ford Fiesta.

He pleaded guilty to the single charge of criminal damage.

Magistrates issued him with a £200 fine.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, along with a £30 surcharge to help fund victim services.
