A West Cumbrian canine association needs your help in a nationwide vote.

Whitehaven and District Canine Association has been nominated in the doggy equivalent of the Oscars.

The Pawscars is an annual charity event that has raised £128,820 for charities throughout the UK since 2013.

Whitehaven and District has been nominated in the best open show of the year category and will be up against other nominees Durham Canine, and Lichfield.

Over the last five years money from this fundraising event has been donated to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital; DogLost; Kennel Club Charitable trust; Kids Get Going; Ty Hafan; Dog Aid; Search and Rescue Dog Association (Scottish Section); Cinnamon Trust; Belfast Children's Hospital; PACT; Make a Wish; Search & Rescue BERKS and Medical Detection Dogs.

The awards ceremony is held on the eve of Crufts on March 6 at a ceremony at the Hilton Metropole by NEC, Birmingham.

A party of seven will represent the Whitehaven and District Canine Association on the night.
