An award-winning store is celebrating its 10th birthday by raising thousands of pounds for charity.

The couple behind Keswick Boot Company have their sights set on raising thousands of pounds for local charity West Cumbria Downs Support Group.

Each person buying a Wainwright Challenge badge will be entered in a prize draw and each person taking a photograph of themselves on top of a Wainwright and sharing it on social media will have a shot at winning one of the top prizes donated by some of the country's leading outdoor goods suppliers.

Prizes include two pairs of Aku hiking boots, a guided fell walk with photo shoot, a three night stay the The Troutbeck Inn and other hiking goodies from firms such as Hanwag, Salewa and Hunter – but the prize pile is growing by the day.

Alex Charlton, co-owner of Keswick Boot Company, says “The time has flown by and we wanted to do something special to celebrate 10 years in business. We specifically want to support a smaller, local charity where we know the money will make a big difference.”

Badges cost £10 each and can be bought either in the shop or via their website They will be on sale at www.kbcwainwrightchallenge.org.uk/index.asp throughout the year and the final draw will take place at a special event on to be held on New Year’s Eve .

Kerrie Charlton added “We’ve been blown away by the support we’ve received so far. We approached all of our suppliers with the idea and most of the leapt at the chance to get involved. West Cumbria Downs Support Group is very close to our hearts and we want to do all we can to support the amazing work they do.”
