Whitehaven AFC Under-14s clinched a West Cumbria Youth League Cup victory at the weekend when they defeated visitors St Bees Juniors.

The clash survived the torrential downpours that washed away many of the fixtures on Saturday with Whitehaven winning the game 9-1.

Only two other games went ahead on Saturday, with Workington Reds Under-15s losing out 9-1 at the hands of Maryport Amateurs Under-15s in the Under-16 league and, in the Under-13 league, Whitehaven AFC Blues edged out Windscale to claim a 3-1 success.

The remainder of the games to go ahead over the weekend took place on the Sunday, starting in the Under-13 league where Workington Reds held on to a one-goal advantage over Whitehaven AFC to win 3-2.

In the Under-14 League Cup, there was joy for Maryport Athletic who put in a commanding performance for their 9-0 victory over Windscale Juniors.

There were several matches that went ahead in the Under-12 Cup.

In the green section, Whitehaven Miners Social won 7-3 at home to Maryport Amateurs, while Workington Reds’ two goals without reply were enough to seal their win over Whitehaven AFC Blues.

In the orange group, it was all square between Grassroad Sharks and St Bees as they could not be separated in a 3-3 scoreline while Dearham Rangers bagged five away from home without reply against Moor Row Blacks.

And in the yellow division there was another 3-3 scoreline between Workington Reds Blacks and Cleator Moor Celtic Greens.

In the Under-12 girls' League, Cockermouth won 5-0 over Workington Diamonds Whites, while Allerdale Girls beat Maryport Amateurs 2-0.

Two more games were at this level where Whitehaven AFC Whites won 4-1 at the home of Whitehaven Blues and Moor Row got the better of Workington Diamonds Reds to win 8-3.

In the Under-14 girls' league, Whitehaven Under-13 Blues won 1-0 over their older counterparts Cockermouth Under-14s.
