It is a big couple of weeks for Workington Sunday League side Deer Orchard.

Firstly last weekend they reached the final of the League Cup, after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Red House in one of the only games to be played due to the weather.

And now they will be preparing to take part in the northern round of the FA People’s Cup in Manchester on Sunday, after winning the Cumbrian side of the competition a couple of weeks ago.

Going back to the League Cup, Deer Orchard were thankful to Luke Ivison for the victory as he banged in two goals to beat Red House, with Gary O’Driscoll replying.

They will find out who they will face in the final when the second semi is played this weekend with Salterbeck hosting Northside.

The other game to go ahead last weekend was in Division One as Workington Juniors were convincing 8-2 winners at Sun Inn Athletic.

Marc Messenger bagged a brace in the win but the other goals were shared out between Joe Hetherington, Macauley Sharp, Leo Holliday, Cameron Harker and Matty Bryden, with an own goal finishing the scoring.
