A WOMAN who works tirelessly to keep the streets of Allerdale clean has celebrated 45 years of service.

Linda Lloyd has been handed a long-service award by FCC Environment, Allerdale council’s contractor for waste management. Linda’s role is to administer street cleaning and waste services.

She initially started in 1974 working in administration for Allerdale council’s waste services. Linda, who has been married to Stephen for 44 years, then transferred to the leisure service where she was duty manager.

As services were outsourced her role was transferred to Foxer, which managed leisure building maintenance and street cleaning and waste services. More recently Linda transferred to FCC Environment where her current role is administering street cleaning and waste services. She is retiring at the end of this month after 45 years’ service.

Linda volunteers with the Samaritans and the Copland Talking Newspaper which supports blind and partially-sighted people.
