AN ALL ladies team who played darts for 24 hours has raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The female team, called The Old Crows, started the event on March 8 finishing the following evening at The Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket.

The proceeds from the event will be donated to Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice with £4,001 raised.

A total of £500 was donated from William Hill through the Employee Charity Match Scheme as Nicola Watson, a member of the team, works there.

Nicola, who organised the event, said: “The support was amazing. I only set my target at a thousand, but people kept giving us money, even days after. We had great local support. It was a part atmosphere.

“The locals kept coming in and paying to challenge us to games. It went quite quick, it was a really good night.”

Jigsaw was chosen as the charity to donate the money to because Nicola and her team support this in the Penrith and District Ladies Darts League.

On the night, the team was made up of Nicola Watson, Susan Armstrong, Ali Ostle, Louise Brownrigg, Angela Glendinning, Tricia Robinson, Jacqui Scott, Clare Russell, Ruth Mounsey, Emma Glendinning, Zoe Glendinning and Helen Mumberson.
